Cool Kid entertains anyone, anywhere

Thursday, 31 December 2009 21:03

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Raised in the Inland Empire foster care system, Cool Kid Robert Lopez found joy and inspiration in music and dance.

Raised in the Inland Empire foster care system, Cool Kid Robert Lopez found joy and inspiration in music and dance.

"Growing up I was always entertained by performers," said Lopez. "Some of the performers weren't really getting paid for it and that's what really brightened up my childhood. So, I said I'm going to do something like that."

That 'something' is forming the 5 Star Experience Dance Crew. Robert sees it as a way to give thanks for the happy home where he now lives.

"This is just normal people who hang around the Riverside Plaza or anywhere in Riverside and we are more than grateful," said Lopez. "We really want to give back to Riverside, what Riverside has given to me. A beautiful family, everything."

Willing to do anything to bring delight for the holidays, Robert and his group did a special version of the nutcracker.

"It was worth putting on that tutu, wearing that muscle shirt, wearing the pants and just going out there and putting smiles on their faces. It's definitely worth it," said Lopez.

Robert and his group are just getting started with plans to take their shows across Southern California.

"If we could find a children's hospital, if we can find anything to entertain kids, to adults, to teenagers," said Lopez. "Put us on a stage, put us on concrete, put us on a street, put us anywhere, we will entertain."

Grateful for the family he has, and bringing happiness to families everywhere he can, he is our cool kid, Robert Lopez.
